Dear Parents and Guardians of the St. Nicholas School Community,
It is an honor to introduce myself as the new interim principal of St. Nicholas School and to join this wonderful school community. I hope that this note finds you enjoying a relaxing summer and that your children are looking forward to beginning an exciting school year together in September. I am excited to work with you, your children, and the faculty to continue the St. Nicholas tradition of providing an excellent academic experience in a spiritually nurturing learning environment.
I come to St. Nicholas School as an experienced elementary school teacher with deep administrative experience most recently at St. Michael School in Newark. The 2022-2023 school year is my 29th year in education. Since graduating from Kean University with a Masters Degree, I have served communities at the college level (Brookdale Community College) and later in the Archdiocese of Trenton, and at St. Michael’s in Newark. Throughout my career I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the classroom helping students to achieve their academic goals. I am excited to move into the role of Interim Principal which allows me the chance to work with teachers, while also remaining connected to students who are learning and growing. I have always believed that every child can achieve academic success and that the home/school partnership helps students to mature and use their powers to shape their future.
I have had the privilege of meeting several of our families in my short time here which has impressed me with their enthusiasm for St. Nicholas School. I would also say that I have enjoyed meeting some of our students through the camp program, and have found them to be friendly, helpful, and welcoming. With my goal of continuing the tradition of 138 years of excellence here at St. Nicholas School, I am committed to working with you to explore more ways to meet the needs of all students and to ensure effective communication with parents and community members. My first Meet and Greet opportunity will take place on Thursday, September 8th, from 12-1 p.m. in the school gym (dismissal time). We will serve light refreshments of water, juice, and cookies. Please feel free to stop by on your way home to say hello.
To our students, I am looking forward to meeting all of you! I hope that you are looking forward to the coming school year and that you are enjoying all the rewards of summer. It is going to be a fun year learning together.
I would like to assure you that I am always available to welcome your conversation and positive input. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work.
Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
William McGee
Interim Principal
