St. Nicholas School is a Catholic school established in 1886 by the Sisters of Christian Charity. It has been the premiere destination for academics in The Heights of Jersey City since its inception. It operates today under the Archdiocese of Newark Schools Office with a certified lay faculty for Grades PreK3 to Grade 8.
Our culturally diverse Catholic atmosphere provides the students with the opportunity to develop academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. We are committed to the challenging task of teaching as Jesus did and living His mission. We endeavor to bring out the best in every child.
Each year our graduates are accepted to our excellent Catholic high schools: St. Peter's Prep, Hudson Catholic, St. Dominic Academy, as well as others in the region. Our graduates receive substantial scholarship funding to these schools. In addition, our graduates are routinely accepted to McNair Academic High School, High Tech High School, County Prep High School, and Infinity High School.
The school uses the NWEA MAP Growth testing which measures individual student growth three times per school year (students in grades 2-8). This testing puts St. Nicholas School students in the upper 25% quartile of all students tested nationwide.
Our curriculum is created and maintained by the Archdiocese of Newark which oversees Catholic schools in Bergen, Hudson, Essex, and Union counties. Learn more at ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK - CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
