Summer Reading!

Updated: 06/19/2017

For my "incoming" 3rd graders:

It is so important that you keep up your reading skills! Your success in third grade depends a lot on being able to read and understand what you read.

Please read at least 3 chapter books over the course of the summer. Complete a report on each book using the book report papers given. These will be turned into me on the first day of school in September.

Keep a running log of the minutes you've read each day. Prizes will be awarded by Mrs. Whelihan to students who have read the most minutes!

You have been given a suggested reading list. Below are a few highlights from that list. Of course, you may read any book you choose!

My Father's Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannet

The Fire Cat by Esther Averill

Amos and Boris by William Steig

Henry and Mudge: The First Book of Their Adventures by Cynthia Rylant

Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost

Bats: Creatures of the Night by Joyce Milton

So You Want to Be President? by Judith St. George

Charlotte's Webb by E.B. White

The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden

Happy Reading!
