Welcome and thank you for visiting the 7th grade page! My name is Mr. Daniel Yamakaitis and I will also be the Teacher of Religion for students in Grades 6-8 and Social Studies Grades 7-8. I have been a teacher at Saint Nicholas School since 2021.
7th Grade Social Studies - In the 7th grade, students will study the time span that includes Colonial America and Native nations that exist before European Exploration, the American Revolution and the founding of our nation, development of the new American Republic from Washington’s presidency, the Jefferson Era, the War of 1812, Westward Expansion and the effects it had on Native Americans, the land and other nations. We will look at the causes and main events that lead to the American Civil War.
8th Grade Social Studies -The 8th grade social studies curriculum explores America’s role in history from Reconstruction through present-day issues. Political, economic, and social challenges facing the nation Post- Civil War to the modern era will be examined as students develop an understanding of how the American experience impacted the world political and economic landscape.
6th Grade Religion - Students will grow in love for God through a deeper understanding of God’s plan of salvation. They will come to appreciate the Old Testament.
7th Grade Religion - Students will have a deeper understanding of who Jesus is and will desire to follow Jesus. They will know what it means to follow Jesus in daily life. They will have a greater appreciation of the life Jesus won for us by his death.
8th Grade Religion - Students will deepen their understanding and appreciation of the Church. The students will grow in their understanding of the four Marks of the Church - One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. The students will be able to identify key people and events in the Church’s history and Resurrection.
