Your Summer Reading Project is on the way home!

Posted on June 12, 2017

Parents and caregivers!  An introductory letter regarding the St. Nick's Summer Reading Project was sent home with your child Monday June 12th.  Please read it. The project kits for your child's summer reading project will be sent in their backpacks over the next couple of days.  Please review completely.  Thanks!  Keep your child on the right pace to read the reading race!

Welcome to the Saint Nicholas Summer Reading Project!

Did you know that when your children read over the summer they are most likely to leap ahead when they return to school?  This is called the summer leap, and St. Nicholas School has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long.

You may have seen large “Burrow into a Book” bookworm banners, and “Keep up the Pace” High-tops Banners in the school auditorium.

Please make sure to read through the “Summer Reading Project Kit” (Bookworm Project for younger grades; Keep Up the Pace Project for older grades) with directions attached.   Make a commitment with your child to complete the kit and set a book reading goal.  Your encouragement and follow through is needed to keep your students “on track.”

Keep track of all your pages read, and complete the activities. There will be a party for the class that reads the most number of pages in Grades K-3, and another celebration party for the class that reads the most number of pages in Grades 4-8.

For even more summer reading fun, Scholastic is having an on-line reading challenge at:

Happy reading this summer!
