Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our 8th grade graduation ceremony was a wonderful culmination of a very special journey toward adulthood. Congratulations to all of our graduates and their families, and may God bless you as you continue your path forward. They have earned almost $450,000 in scholarship money to some of the finest Catholic high schools in the area as well as some of the more selective public high schools. We are proud of you! You will always be welcome at St. Nicholas School.

Did you know Saint Nicholas won first place in the “Code Monkey-Code Rush” coding contest that was held nationally. “Code Rush” is a nationwide coding contest held by CodeMonkey Studios, Inc. Over the month of April, hundreds of teams and over 35 U.S. states participated in the competition. Our students had to solve a total of 140 programming challenges using CoffeeScript programming language in the shortest possible time. The contest helps students build the fundamentals of computer science including multi-step problem solving and analytical thinking. Congratulations to our first place team of Saint Nick coders! See the link at:

Our Annual Ice Cream Social Party was a wonderful success. Thank you to our sponsors, and to Mrs. Sasso and Mrs. LaBruna and of course, our volunteers for a night of dancing, prizes, and of course -- ice cream!

Congratulations to our 8th graders: William Kunga, Brandon Johnson, and Jash Patel. These young men won the Gold Medal at the Hudson County STEM Showcase last month. They have been named the Blake Science Scholar/House of Israel Award. We are so proud of you!

Our Spring Play - The Wizard of Oz was awesome! Congratulations to all of our thespians! Thank you to Mr. Bongiorno and Miss Obiedzinski for another wonderful production. Thank you to Mrs. Torres and Ms. Moreno for all your hard work with props, costumes, and the Wizard of Oz set!

Our Book Buddies Club has enrolled so many new members! We obviously have many, many awesome readers. Mrs. Whelihan will be recognizing the new students who achieved milestones of 500 - 1,000 - and 1,500 pages of reading wonderful books in just one month. See our Facebook page for the details:

Please contact the school office if you did not receive your child's summer reading packet. These packets are to be returned to school on the first day in September. Reading is an all-the-time activity and builds a solid foundation for academic and professional success. Take a trip to the library and 'get lost' in your favorite books.

Our summer Kiddie Camp and Basketball Camps begin on June 26th. They run. Monday - Friday 9:00 - 3:00. Through August 11th (closed the week of July 4th).

Parents interested in registering for next fall, please call for your registration materials now. Call the school at 201-659-5948 to schedule your tour today.

Have a great day!

Bernadette Miglin
