St. Nicholas School is a Catholic school established in 1886 by the Sisters of Christian Charity. It has been the premiere destination for academics in The Heights of Jersey City since its inception. It operates today under the Archdiocese of Newark Schools Office with a certified lay faculty for Grades PreK3 to Grade 8.
Our culturally diverse Catholic atmosphere provides the students with the opportunity to develop academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. We are committed to the challenging task of teaching as Jesus did and living His mission. We endeavor to bring out the best in every child.
Each year our graduates are accepted to our excellent Catholic high schools: St. Peter's Prep, Hudson Catholic, Marist, St. Dominic Academy, as well as others in the region. Our 2018 graduates received almost $400,000 in scholarship funding to these schools. In addition, our graduates are routinely accepted to McNair Academic High School, High Tech High School, and County Prep High School.
Standardized test scores put St. Nicholas School students in the upper 25% quartile of all students tested.
